I get this excuse just about every day, and to a certain extent, I understand it. When we are tired it is a natural reaction to feel like we don’t have the energy to go for a run or make it through a cardio-sculpting circuit, but don’t let your body fool you.

Inactivity actually causes us to feel even more lethargic and mentally fatigued than we would if we’d expended more energy working our body. Think of a day when you sat on the couch and watched TV for hours. Now, compare that to how you felt after even your toughest of workouts. Which scenario gave you a boost?

Physical activity is key to keeping your energy level high. Even short bursts – 10 invigorating minutes – of exercise will get your blood flowing and improve your brain functioning.

The next time you are tired or fried, take a break and do one of my express workouts from my ‘David Kirsch In a New York Minute’ series, created for The Ultimate New York Diet. You can do them anywhere, anytime.
